Nowadays, nearly 3/4th of school-going kid owns some type of mobile device, with the 17th Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2022 showing that 74.8 percent of students had one in their households, compared to 1/3rd of students in 2018. The survey interviewed 700,000 students from 19,000 villages and 616 districts.
These stats showcase that smartphone use remains on the rise among children and teenagers, who are, in many cases, growing up on their devices irrespective of their geography. To meet students and prospective students on those devices, higher education institutions have found ways to bring themselves into the mobile world, whether that’s through the growing field of m-learning or by offering things like real-time parking data through a mobile app.
Meanwhile, concerns over student mental health have also come to the forefront. A recent Mental Health and Well-being of School Students Survey by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) conducted on 3,79,842 students from class 6th to 12th across 28 states and 8 UTs found a concerning percentage of students suffering from different aspects of mental health.

“For instance, if you look at the last decade, it has been the decade of startups, and these need certain skills, which are beyond technical skills.
